Your Tarec Gorilla Safaris driver-guide will pick you up from your hotel, residence or agreed meeting point in Kampala or Entebbe. After a short briefing, you will begin your journey towards Jinja. The drive takes you through changing landscapes, roadside communities, agricultural areas and towns as you travel eastwards from Kampala. Depending on your pickup location and traffic conditions, the journey will take several hours, so an early departure is recommended.
Upon arrival in Jinja, you will begin your guided experience of the city and its surroundings. Jinja has a long history as an important commercial and cultural centre. Today, it is particularly famous for its connection to the Nile and its wide range of adventure activities. Your guide will help you explore the area while explaining the history, culture and significance of Jinja.
The main highlight of your 1-Day Jinja Tour and Source of the Nile Experience is your visit to the Source of the Nile. Here, you will have an opportunity to appreciate the meeting of Lake Victoria and the Nile and learn about the historical importance of the site. You will then enjoy a boat experience on the Nile. From the water, you can enjoy views of the surrounding landscape while experiencing one of Uganda's most famous natural attractions.
After your Nile experience, continue with a guided exploration of Jinja. Depending on your interests and available time, your guide can help you discover parts of the town, local markets, historic streets, viewpoints and craft shops. This is also an opportunity to interact with local communities and experience a side of Uganda that is different from the country's national parks and rainforests.
After the morning activities, you will enjoy lunch at a selected local restaurant in Jinja. The restaurant can be selected according to your preferences and budget. Vegetarian and other dietary requirements can be accommodated when communicated in advance.
Travelers who want to add more adventure to their Jinja day trip can choose from optional activities. Possible additions include white-water rafting on the Nile, bungee jumping, quad biking, boat cruises, cultural experiences, and additional Nile activities.
