Your 4-Day Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Safari begins in Kigali. Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will meet your professional safari guide.
Depending on your arrival time, begin with a short Kigali city experience. You can visit important landmarks, explore the city's clean streets and markets, or visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial if it fits your interests and schedule.
After lunch, leave Kigali and travel north toward Musanze and Volcanoes National Park. The journey takes you through Rwanda's beautiful countryside, characterized by rolling hills, cultivated slopes and rural communities. Arrive at your lodge in the evening. Your guide will brief you about the following day's gorilla trekking experience.

Today is the highlight of your 4-Day Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Safari. After an early breakfast, travel to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters for registration and briefing. Your guide will introduce you to the trekking procedures before you enter the forest in search of a habituated mountain gorilla family.
The trek can involve steep terrain and may take several hours depending on where the gorillas are located. Once the gorilla family is found, you will spend the permitted viewing time observing these remarkable primates in their natural environment. Your guide and trackers will help you understand gorilla behavior and the surrounding ecosystem.
After the trek, return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation. The rest of the afternoon is free to rest or enjoy the views around the lodge.

After breakfast, choose an additional experience depending on your interests.
Option 1 — Golden Monkey Trekking: Travel to the park headquarters for a briefing before entering the forest to search for golden monkeys. These endangered primates are found in the Virunga volcanic region and are known for their distinctive golden-orange coloring. The trek is generally shorter than gorilla trekking, making it a good second primate experience.
Option 2 — Iby'Iwacu Cultural Experience: Travel to a nearby community for a cultural experience. Learn about local traditions, traditional music and dance, food, crafts and community-based tourism around Volcanoes National Park.
Option 3 — Dian Fossey Experience: Travel toward the Dian Fossey area for a conservation-focused experience and learn about the research and conservation history associated with mountain gorillas.
Return to your lodge after the activity.

Enjoy breakfast before beginning your journey back to Kigali. The drive provides another opportunity to enjoy Rwanda's famous green hills and countryside.
Depending on your flight schedule, stop for lunch in Kigali or visit a local market for last-minute shopping. Your guide will transfer you to Kigali International Airport in time for your departure flight.
This marks the end of your 4-Day Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Safari.
