From the Genocide Memorial to local markets, Nyamirambo and city viewpoints — follow the day-by-day timeline below.
Your 2-Day Kigali City Safari begins with pickup from Kigali International Airport or your hotel. After meeting your Tarec Gorilla Safaris guide, begin your introduction to Rwanda's capital. Kigali is spread across several hills, and the city's different neighborhoods offer contrasting experiences, from modern commercial districts to lively residential communities and local markets.
Your first major stop can be the Kigali Genocide Memorial, an important historical site that documents the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi and commemorates its victims. Allow sufficient time for the visit because this is an important educational and memorial experience rather than a quick sightseeing stop. Afterward, continue with a city drive through some of Kigali's major neighborhoods and commercial areas.
Lunch at a local or selected restaurant — depending on your preferences, your guide can recommend Rwandan dishes or international options.
The afternoon focuses more on everyday Kigali. Visit a local market where you can see fresh produce, clothing, crafts and other products sold by Rwandan traders. Kimironko Market can be included as part of the itinerary, subject to opening hours and the day's schedule. You can also shop for souvenirs, handmade crafts and locally produced products.
Nyamirambo Experience: Later, continue to Nyamirambo, one of Kigali's best-known neighborhoods. The area provides an opportunity to experience a more local side of the city, with busy streets, small businesses, restaurants, shops and community life. Depending on your interests, you can include a guided neighborhood walk or a local food experience. Return to your hotel in the evening.

After breakfast, continue exploring Kigali. The morning can begin with a visit to another local market or craft center. This is a good opportunity to purchase Rwandan handicrafts, baskets, artwork, clothing and souvenirs directly from local businesses. Your guide can also explain some of the products and traditional crafts you encounter.
Kigali City Viewpoints: Because Kigali is built across a series of hills, several parts of the city provide attractive panoramic views. Your guide will take you to suitable viewpoints depending on weather, road conditions and your interests. This gives you an opportunity to see how Kigali's different neighborhoods connect across the hills.
Kigali Art and Culture: Continue to one of Kigali's art or cultural experiences. You can choose from available galleries, craft centers or cultural experiences depending on the day's opening hours. Travelers interested in photography can also use this part of the itinerary to capture Kigali's streets, architecture and surrounding hills.
Lunch at a selected restaurant before preparing for the end of your city safari. If your departure is later in the day, you can add some free time for shopping or relaxation at your hotel. Your guide will then transfer you to Kigali International Airport, your Kigali hotel, a private residence, or another agreed location in Kigali.
Your 2-Day Kigali City Safari ends in Kigali.

The itinerary can be customized with additional Kigali experiences.
