Two of Uganda's most interesting attractions in one day — the Source of the Nile, a boat experience on the world's longest river, and the Equator crossing.

Experience two of Uganda's most interesting attractions on the Jinja Source of the Nile and Equator Day Trip with Tarec Gorilla Safaris. This full-day private excursion combines a visit to Jinja, one of Uganda's best-known adventure destinations, with a visit to the Equator, giving travelers the opportunity to experience Uganda's landscapes, history, culture and natural attractions in a single day. The journey takes you from Kampala or Entebbe towards Jinja, where you will visit the Source of the Nile and enjoy a boat experience on the Nile. After exploring Jinja, continue towards the Equator for photographs, sightseeing and an explanation of the geographical significance of the Equator line.

From early pickup in Kampala or Entebbe to Jinja, the Source of the Nile, lunch, the Equator, and the return — this day unfolds step by step.
Your Tarec Gorilla Safaris driver-guide will pick you up from your hotel, residence or agreed meeting point in Kampala or Entebbe. After a short briefing, you will begin your journey towards Jinja. As you travel eastwards, you will pass through towns, trading centres, agricultural areas and rural communities. The drive is part of the experience, giving you a glimpse into everyday life outside Uganda's main urban centres. An early departure is recommended so that you have enough time to enjoy both Jinja and the Equator without rushing.

Upon arrival in Jinja, your guide will introduce you to the town and its surroundings. Jinja is located near Lake Victoria and is strongly associated with the Nile and Uganda's adventure tourism. Depending on your interests and available time, your guide can take you through selected parts of the town before continuing to the Source of the Nile.

The highlight of the morning is your visit to the Source of the Nile. You will have time to explore the area, take photographs and learn about the historical and geographical significance of the Nile. The visit can then be followed by a boat experience on the Nile, allowing you to see the surrounding landscape from the water. The exact boat duration and operating arrangements depend on the local operator and conditions on the day.
During the boat experience, you can enjoy views of the Nile, Lake Victoria scenery, local fishing activities, birdwatching opportunities, photography, and relaxed time on the water.

After your Nile experience, continue with a short guided tour of Jinja. Depending on your interests, you may visit local markets, historic areas, craft shops and viewpoints. Your guide can also explain more about Jinja's history and its role as one of Uganda's major eastern towns. Travelers interested in adventure can also request additional activities such as rafting or bungee jumping, although these are not part of the standard package.

Enjoy lunch at a selected restaurant in or around Jinja. The restaurant can be chosen according to your preferred budget and dietary requirements. Vegetarian and other dietary requirements can be arranged when communicated before travel.

After lunch, continue your journey towards the Equator. Your guide will explain the changing landscapes and communities along the route as you travel. The Equator visit provides a different experience from the Nile excursion, making this package particularly suitable for travelers who want to combine several Uganda highlights in one day.
At the Equator, you will have time to explore the site, take photographs and learn about the geographical significance of the Equator line. This is a popular stop for travelers looking for a memorable Uganda experience and a chance to stand at the point where the Equator crosses the country. You can also browse local craft and souvenir shops before continuing your journey.

After completing your Equator experience, begin the return journey. Your driver-guide will take you back to your hotel, residence or agreed drop-off point in Kampala or Entebbe. Depending on your starting point, traffic and the amount of time spent at each attraction, you will arrive later in the evening.
End of the Jinja Source of the Nile and Equator Day Trip.

Add an unforgettable white-water rafting adventure on the Nile to your day trip. Jinja is one of the world's top rafting destinations, with rapids ranging from Class 3 to Class 5. This is an optional activity — it changes the itinerary and total price, and should be requested in advance.
