Famous Wildlife In East Africa

East Africa is home to some of the world's most iconic wildlife species, making it one of the best safari destinations on the planet.

Mountain gorillas are among the rarest primates in the world and are found in the forests of Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. They live in family groups led by a dominant silverback male and spend most of their day feeding on leaves, shoots, and fruits. Gorilla trekking is one of East Africa’s most sought-after wildlife experiences.

Known as the “King of the Jungle,” lions are powerful predators that live in social groups called prides. They are commonly seen in national parks across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. Lions play a crucial role in maintaining healthy ecosystems by controlling herbivore populations.

The African elephant is the largest land animal on Earth. These intelligent and social animals live in herds led by experienced females. East Africa’s savannahs and forests provide ideal habitats for elephants, which can consume up to 150 kilograms of vegetation daily.

Leopards are elusive and highly adaptable big cats known for their beautiful spotted coats. They are excellent climbers and often rest in trees during the day. Unlike lions, leopards prefer a solitary lifestyle and are mostly active at night.

Mutabazi Moses
Is gorilla trekking safe?+
Yes. Gorilla trekking is considered very safe. The gorillas have been habituated to human presence over many years by national park authorities. Our guides are trained rangers who follow strict protocols. You must maintain a 7-metre distance and wear a mask if you have any respiratory illness.
What's included in the safari price?+
Our packages typically include: park permits, professional guide fees, all game drives or treks, accommodation as specified, meals as indicated, and ground transport in a 4WD safari vehicle. International flights and travel insurance are not included.
Do you arrange airport pickups and transfers?+
Absolutely. We offer meet-and-greet airport pickup from Entebbe International Airport (EBB) and Kigali International Airport (KGL). Our driver will be waiting with your name sign at arrivals. Transfers between parks are included in most packages.
When is the best time to visit Uganda and Rwanda?+
The best times are during the two dry seasons: June–September and December–February. Gorilla trekking is possible year-round, though dry season trails are easier. We recommend booking gorilla permits 3–6 months in advance.
What should I pack for a safari?+
Key items: neutral-coloured clothing, sturdy waterproof hiking boots, rain jacket, hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, binoculars, and camera. For gorilla trekking, pack thick gardening gloves and gaiters. We'll send a detailed packing guide with your confirmation.
What payment methods do you accept?+
We accept bank transfers (USD, EUR, GBP), PayPal, credit/debit cards, and MTN/Airtel Mobile Money for local clients. A 30% deposit is required to confirm your booking, with the balance due 30 days before departure.
Can solo travellers join group safaris?+
Yes! We run small-group departures (max 6 guests) that are perfect for solo travellers. You'll share costs while still enjoying an intimate, high-quality experience. Single-supplement private tours are also available.
Do you offer travel insurance?+
We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance covering medical evacuation, trip cancellation, and luggage loss. We can recommend reputable providers and will provide all documentation required for any insurance claim.
